Vital-Plex is a long-standing favorite of Klaire clinicians in situations where undesirable microorganisms invade and multiply in the bowel. It includes Bifidobacterium lactis blended with Lactobacillus acidophilus, L. rhamnosus, and B. bifidum. B. lactis is an important colonizing microorganism that produces large amounts of formate which favors beneficial microbiota. It has profound effects on the immune system enhancing white blood cell activities as well as increasing numbers of total, helper, and activated T cells. It has activity against rotavirus, a significant cause of diarrhea in infants and young children and has been found to reduce the incidence of diarrhea in child daycare centers. The probiotic species in Vital-Plex synergistically produce butyrate, acetate, lactate, and formate, lowering the pH of intestinal contents and inhibiting the growth of undesirable bacteria and yeast.
