Uva Ursi, also known as bearberry, is traditionally used in european herbal medicine. Historical uses include treatment of kidney stones, diabetes, gonorrhea, edema, urinary tract infections, and as a diuretic. In modern medicine Uva Ursi is most often used to help those with Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs), showing inhibitory effects against Staphllococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. It also has been shown to be effective against Neisseria gonorrheae, Mycobacterium smegmatis, Shigella sonnei and Shigella flexeneri, H. Pylori, Candida albicans, and many other microbes.
